Josh Hamilton reportedly meets with MLB officials, Angels 'bracing for penalties'

Angels slugger Josh Hamilton has been one of the best stories in baseball in recent years, but the hard-swinging lefty with a checkered past may have hit a speed bump.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Hamilton is in New York meeting with MLB officials regarding a disciplinary issue. The Times reported the team is "bracing for possible penalties."

“I can say that Josh is going to meet with league officials in New York,” Angels GM Jerry Dipoto said. “At this point I have no other information to offer.”
Hamilton has been in Houston with a friend as he recovers from right shoulder surgery performed on Feb. 4.
Hamilton, who was banned from baseball from 2003-2005 for alcohol- and drug-related issues after being the No. 1 overall pick in 1999, had alcohol relapses in 2009 and 2012 and is subject to three drug tests per week as part of his reinstatement.
The 33-year-old outfielder signed a five-year, $125 million with the Angels before the 2013 season after hitting 43 home runs and driving in 128 runs for the Rangers in 2012. Since the deal in Los Angeles, Hamilton has only 31 home runs and 123 in two seasons.
Hamilton was already expected to be out of the equation until at least May with his shoulder problems.
