The Warriors came away with the biggest free agent prize of the summer in four-time scoring champion Kevin Durant.
They’ll have to do the same thing next year when Steph Curry’s contract expires. However, Golden State's front office can sleep easy. The two-time MVP and 2017 free-agent-to-be said, as of right now, he anticipates re-signing with the only NBA team he’s ever known.
"I want to be back here. I like playing here, and that's it," Curry told reporters Tuesday, via ESPN.com.
Curry is currently making $12 million a year — far from chump change — but also far from being the highest-paid player on his own team, as Durant will more than double his salary this season. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green also make more Curry.
"I hope not because we'll worry about that in the summer,” Curry said. "My answer's not going to be any different all year. So, keep asking me, I won't have a different one.”
