Jabari Parker is quick to deflect any attention on his play toward the success of the team. In Parker’s mind, he’s at his best if the squad is winning. That belief goes beyond basketball.
The third-year forward is averaging 18.7 points and 6.5 rebounds as one half of an exciting frontcourt duo with Giannis Antetokounmpo. As a basketball player, Parker takes the lessons learned from Coach Mike Krzyzewski to never put yourself before the unit. As a man from the south side of Chicago, Parker knows he’s part of a much bigger team.
Parker is soft-spoken. However, he isn’t afraid to be outspoken on the behalf of what he feels is right. November 8th will be a day that will go down in infamy for the 21-year-old. He reluctantly accepts that in a few short months Donald Trump will be President. He isn’t happy about it and expressed his concerns recently in an interview with Sporting News.
FILM STUDY: Parker turning into one of NBA's best scorers
I'm black, and he's said some controversial stuff about black people. When it comes to me not supporting Donald Trump, it's correlated to the things he has said. I have a gay uncle. All the things he said in his campaign are things I can’t associate myself with.
