Brandon Jennings wanted to play for a playoff-contending team instead of the dismal Knicks this season and found his match Tuesday in the red-hot Wizards, according to multiple reports.
Jennings was linked to the Hornets following his release Monday, but instead finds himself in the thick of the Eastern Conference layoff race with Washington, which made moves the past week to fill its needs on its second unit. The addition of Jennings along with Bojan Bogdanovic gives the Wizards enough fire power to challenge the Celtics and Raptors — which lost All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry likely for the regular season — in the Eastern Conference.
With a stellar 24-8 home record and the great play of All-Star John Wall, it's not inconceivable to see the Wizards take over the Celtics for the No. 2 seed in the conference and give the injury-riddled Cavs a run for their money in the playoffs.
Jennings will have a similar role with the Wizards as he did with the Knicks, where he averaged 8.6 points per game despite issues with the triangle offense.

Once a promising player in Milwaukee, where he averaged over 19 points during the 2011-12 season, Jennings still has some flashes of great play, including a 32-point game in December for New York.
According to The Vertical, the Wizards will release a player before Thursday to clear roster spot for Jennings.
