It was one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the NBA season.
And then, it wasn't.
On a night where Golden State coach Steve Kerr sat all of his star players — Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson — the Spurs were without a few of their own stars. Kawhi Leonard is lost to the NBA's concussion protocol for the time being and LaMarcus Aldridge is out indefinitely with minor heart arrythmia.
That didn't stop the Spurs from completely wiping the floor with the Warriors, crusing to a 107-85 victory in San Antonio.
The win pulls Gregg Popovich and the Spurs closer to the No. 1 spot in the Western Conference, now to within 0.5 games of the conference lead.
The teams will meet again later in March — hopefully, then, with more star players on the floor.
All times eastern.
